I'm not saying your wrong because i havent actually looked into it but i feel that it probably works a different way. it probably has infrared LEDS built into it (the kind of things that are in your TV remote). While we cant see the light emitted by them to a camera it shows up as bright white light. So instead of detecting a camera they are just always on. You can see the effect yourself by looking through the digital display of your camera while pointing your tv remote at it and pressing a button
