Personal Electronic Devices On Airplanes?

You’re cruising along tens of thousands of feet above the ground when you hear the familiar text message tone of your mobile phones, you check it out and your friend has informed you that the pictures from his holiday have just gone online and wished you a happy vacation too. Not to be outdone you open your laptop and connect to the internet and see the aforementioned vacation photos, you then send an email back to your buddy vowing to beat them when you finally land at your holiday destination.

That may sound like something from the high tech dreams of Richard Branson and his space travel planes but in reality you’ll soon be able to do all of this from the economy section of your flight to your holiday destination within the next few years.

Air travel has been popular for jet-setting businessmen and women for many years and obviously since the vast majority cannot be separated from their Blackberry or their laptop for any given period of time, flight companies have strived to appeal to these regular customers by enabling them to use their gizmos on the flight.

But for many years we’ve been told that we shouldn’t use electronic devices on planes as there’s a chance we could mess with the computers on board the plane and potentially cause an accident. Well last year the idea of having a small cellular phone base station on board planes called a Picocell would provide service coverage for the mobile phones on board flights. These Picocells link up with the cell networks on the ground to enable passengers to make calls and send text messages mid flight.

The flight company Virgin America now has a plethora of technical gadgets to keep many geeks happy including headrest TVs that show internet podcasts and news shows. Power outlets for laptops have become popular to with flights to the USA for business class passengers in case the battery dies out whilst working on that important spreadsheet sue when you arrive.

Now American Airlines is testing in flight Broadband internet on flights from New York to Los Angeles. The service is initially free to the lucky test subjects but a charge of $12.95 for flights longer than three hours but some select sites will be free to browse such as American Airlines own website as well as the famous Frommer’s travel guides site as well as some news sites.

So some day soon we are going to be able to take all our electrical goods on flights with us as well as being able to actually use them, the rule that you aren’t to use them during takeover and landing still remains but once your cruising at 35,000 ft you’ll be able to surf the internet and take important business calls all from the comfort of business class

Enhance Your IT Knowledge

Everyone is surfing the Internet, but do you know how it works? Would you feel proud if you can control a group of PCs? Today's organizations, relying on the Internet and complex internal networks, need skilled professionals to keep them working smoothly and expanding seamlessly. By offering rigorous training in the latest information technologies, certifying technical proficiency, and providing resources for continuing education, the Cisco Career Certfications program serves networking professionals and the organizations that employ them. Why obtain a Cisco career certification? It makes you more marketable in the job world.

Cisco Certification is a specialized IT recognition that indicates an understanding of IP configuration, Cisco IOS and hardware, and general Internetworking using Cisco routers. Professionals who are Cisco Certified are capable of configuring and maintaining networks regulated by routers and switches. Generally, individuals seeking Cisco Certification are computer networking professionals seeking certification for higher pay grade and increased marketability and they already possess advanced computer networking knowledge. There are three levels of certification: Associate, Professional, and Expert. Cisco Certified Network Associates (CCNA) gain foundational and functional understanding of networking. In particular, the CCNA certification indicates knowledge of networking for the Small Office, Home Office (SOHO) market and the ability to work in small businesses or organizations whose networks have fewer than 100 nodes. Cisco Certified Network Professionals (CCNP) have more advanced knowledge along with business orientation. Cisco Certified Internetwork Experts (CCIE) have a mastery of general computer networking, but can also pursue specialized certification for specific technologies and jobs.

Overall, Cisco certification validates an individual’s achievement, so it increases the holder’s professional credibility by ensuring high standards of technical expertise. If you already have a job, a Cisco career certification can give you greater knowledge (thus greater value) for the devices you work with.

Future Computer - The B-Membrane

Computers are now a really important part of our everyday life. To get the most out of your windows computer PCappSpot.com publishes tips, tricks, fix, reviews, how-tos, wallpapers and many other things on a regular basis.

Design by Won-Seok Lee and this computer concept is called the B-Membrane. This is an interesting concept that might find its niche somewhere.

The B-Membrane does away with a monitor by projecting the image of the screen onto whatever surface you point it at. The keyboard only appears when touched and when the projector is not being used to project the computer screen, the B-membrane can be set to display subtle mood lighting. Its just a concept right now but I think this concept computer will becomes a reality someday.

Using Your Cell Phone To Expand Your Wireless Network

Most wireless networks can only be accessed if you are within a couple hundred feet of the source of the signal. The latency of wireless network signals degrades quickly, so if you are farther away, you may have a difficult time maintaining a connection. Wouldn't it be great if you could somehow use your cell phone to give the wireless network card in your computer that extra boost that it needs? Well, you can, and it isn't difficult at all. Follow steps below :

- Coil the ethernet cable around the cell phone, sort of like when you were making an electromagnet as a kid and coiled wire around a nail. The tighter you coil the cable around the cell phone, the better the reception on your computer will be. This process seems to lose its strength once you've gone through about 20 feet of ethernet cable, so wrapping more cable than that around your cell phone is futile.

- Plug one end of the ethernet cable into your computer's ethernet jack.

- View your computer's network connections. This is usually achieved by clicking Start, then clicking "My Network Places". If you see a new item listed that looks like it may be your cell phone, then you're probably ready to go. This normally happens with 3G enabled cell phones. If you do not see anything listed, do not panic. Your computer is most likely already utilizing the connection without listing it.

- Check your list of available wireless networks. Before adding the cell phone antenna, this computer had six wireless networks within its range. After adding the cell phone antenna, there are more than double the number of wireless networks available, and some of the ones that previously existed now have a stronger connection signal.

- Take a medium mixing bowl, and cover the inside of the bowl with aluminum foil. Now, using ordinary clear packaging tape, suspend your ethernet wrapped cell phone over the center of the bowl. You have just made a primitive satellite. It's not going to give you access to pay per view events or provide you with free calling, but it will boost the signal strength of the wireless networks that are available to you.

The Future Of Gaming Is Here

Emotive Systems, the pioneer in brain computer interface technology, has revealed the Emotiv EPOC, a neuroheadet that allows players to control gameplay with their thoughts, expressions and emotions. The device was unveiled during a live interactive demonstration at GDC ( Game Developers Conference).

The headset is constructed of several nodes spaced around the head that detect the electric fields being emitted by your brain. These EEG patterns are then processed and recognized. Unlike regular EEG scans that require the electrodes to be glued directly to your head, Emotiv has a "patented material" that lets the nodes simply rest against your skull with no adhesive required. As the neurons in your brain send messages back and forth, the electrical signals are picked up and analyzed. Like other forms of bodily interface (such as gestures), you must first train the headset to recognize what kind of thought pattern equates to a certain action. This obviously requires a certain degree of consistency on the part of the wearer, hence the innate difficulty and challenge of learning to use the headset. Note that the thoughts picked up by the headset include moods and feelings as well, as your brain signals your muscles to perform certain actions. The headset will retail for $299 sometime later this year in the U.S. only.

Basic Features Of Digital Cameras To Consider

Regardless of brand names, digital cameras have the same basic features that any consumer should know and consider before buying one. Even though digital cameras are generally a point and shoot device, certain features can often single out a particular brand or model. A good example of this is the term megapixel, which became known when digital cameras were introduced in the market.

Megapixels, which means millions of pixels, measure the quality and size of a digital camera. Pixels refer to the dots that make up a picture. Therefore a digital camera that has about a 5-megapixel resolution will produce better quality pictures compared to a 3-megapixel digital camera.

Moreover, photos taken with a digital camera that offers greater megapixels can be enlarged safely without sacrificing the quality of the picture. Average digital cameras with less than 3 megapixels often forfeit the clarity of the picture once it is enlarged. Unfortunately, there is a downside to using a digital camera with greater megapixels as they consume more of the camera’s memory.

The zoom function of a digital camera is another feature that most consumers should consider. There are generally two types of zoom features for many of the digital cameras on the market today. The optical zoom feature is common in devices without permanent lenses. The user can simply zoom and focus on the subject to be photographed.

A digital zoom feature is similar to using an editing software program for images. In most cases, a digital camera may offer both types of zoom features. Most digital camera users recommend concentrating on the optical zoom feature to validate the quality of the device.

Energy Efficient Gadget

5238dd240x180public

Living in a stressful and fast-paced world often makes us quite time conscious or reluctant, otherwise. With oil price is increasing, we need to save energy wherever we can, and our home is a great place to start. If you’re a working mom/dad or a single parent, you wouldn’t want to get stuck from loads of house chores such as cleaning your house! How do you avoid spending energy on cleaning? By taking actions like purchasing Energy Star certified (high efficiency) appliances, is usually the smartest, most economical and most potent environmental action you can take.

Dirt Devil has developed a new energy efficient, Energy Star approved line of cordless cleaning products - AccuCharge Hand and Stick Vac. Both gadget is powerful enough to take care of your cleaning chores but don't use that much energy than the regular vacuum. With 15-3/5 volts of power and a cordless easy-to-maneuver design, it works great for on-the-go pickups and fast cleaning of every day messes and dry spills. The Energy Star-approved unit features AccuCharge technology, which provides a longer battery life, charges two times faster, and utilizes 70-percent less energy. In addition, its included AccuCharge adaptor more efficiently converts AC power to the DC batteries. The circuitry constantly monitors the unit until it reaches the charge voltage; it then reduces power to a trickle for a complete charge and maintenance. The cleaner also provides a retractable bristle strip and an on-board quick-flip crevice tool for getting into tight spaces. Dirt and debris collect in an oversized bagless cup that pops off for quick emptying.

We can all be a bit smarter about how we use energy. Making small changes can save a small amount day to day but over a year can add up to making a huge difference to the environment and to your power bill! So start using smart technology!

Random Access Memory

The cyber world is prone to such a state of affairs where change is the only thing constant. A computer by itself can not meet the purpose. You have to modify your computer with the accessories that increase its efficiency. Computer savvy users understand that the most important thing in a computer besides storage capacity and processing speed is the RAM memory capacity/speed.

Occasionally, people confuse their hard drive with RAM. The hard drive is simply a storage system for the data on your PC computer – the software you run as well as the documents and files you store. The information on your hard drive cannot be accessed at random. When information from the hard drive needs to be accessed, entire blocks of data are transferred to the RAM. Once the information is in the PC computer’s RAM, it is randomly accessed used by the processor as needed.

RAM is a moniker for Random Access Memory. It acts as a short-term memory much like the human brain to store a wealth of information. The RAM is accessible through the computer's brain called the CPU which stands for Central Processing Unit. RAM has the capability of being retrieved only while a computer is on. When the computer is turned off the RAM is no longer accessible. ROM chips along with BIOS (computer boot firmware) allows the RAM information to be retrievable when the computer is rebooted.

RAM serves the very important function of retrieving information that must be accessed in a quick manner. This operation is very similar to the human brain's function in retrieving necessary facts from short term memory. Open files and the utilization of applications on a computer systems requires the assistance of RAM. Users that play a lot of video games with detailed graphics or keep a lot of folders open while on their computer, will need the use of additional RAM. This will allow them to better access the information they need when the time comes. RAM is held onto a limited time, but it allows the information to come up quickly and without much fuss on the part of the computer user.

Adding Computer RAM is very easy. All you need to do is unscrew the user access door at the bottom of the computer and insert the stick of RAM. RAM is the same for PCs and Macs, but of course you still need to get the right type for your machine, just as you would have to for a PC. Until recently, Macs used DDR (double data rate) RAM. DDR-Short for Double Data Rate-Synchronous DRAM, a type of SDRAM that supports data transfers on both edges of each clock cycle (the rising and falling edges), effectively doubling the memory chip's data throughput. DDR-SDRAM also consumes less power, which makes it well-suited to notebook computers. DDR PC2700 Memory runs on a 333MHz bus speed. The latest Power Macs and iMacs use DDR2 memory. I can’t give directions for you on how to Add IMAC Memory. Fortunately, you can find that information online. Apple has instructions for installing RAM on many of its desktops.

So, if this all sounds like gibberish to you it is recommended you contact a computer technician to inspect your computer and do the upgrade which can help your computer run faster and will definitively help you avoid headaches.

Cleaning Your Keyboard

When it comes to cleaning your keyboard there are many methods that can be used, some harder and more effective than others.

The easiest method is the Shake Method. It is so easy that you can do it right now. Pick up your keyboard, turn it over being careful not to press any keys, and shake it. See all of that stuff fall out? It is dirtier than you thought, isn't it? You can use one of the following methods to clean it further.

The Blow Method - You can buy cans of pressurized air at the computer department or computer store which are made especially for cleaning your computer. They usually have either a hose and nozzle or a tube extending from the nozzle. Hold the keyboard up vertically (that means that end of the keyboard is up and the other end is down), aim towards the keys and press the button. Keep blowing until all of the debris is blown out. Be sure to get around and in between all of the keys. This can be done with the computer on, but it is better if it is off so that you do not have to worry about pressing the keys and coming up with a page of aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa's.

The Vacuum Method
- This is just like the Blow Method except that a vacuum is used instead of a can of pressurized air. It is quite simple. Just turn the vacuum on, pull out the hose, and run the nozzle over the keys. Before doing this make sure your keyboard does not have any loose pop off keys that could be sucked into the vacuum.

The Cotton Ball Method
- This can be done in addition to the above methods and in lieu of the following methods. Take a cotton ball or cloth and wet it with rubbing alcohol. It should not be so wet that the alcohol runs down into the cracks of the keyboard. Wipe the tops and sides of the keys.

The Dishwasher Method - I hesitate to tell about this method because there is the possibility that it could fry your keyboard. When I had less experience with computers, I dunked my keyboard in a sink full of water to clean it. It did work afterwards, so I don't doubt those who say this method will not mess up your keyboard, but if it does, don't complain to me. I warned you. If your keyboard is not the standard membrane type of keyboard or if it is on a laptop, do not even think of trying this.

This is how you do it. Unplug the keyboard and place it face down in an empty dishwasher. Do not disassemble the keyboard and do not put it in a dishwasher that has dirty dishes in it. Some say to add soap, some say not to. Run the dishwasher through a regular cycle. Take the keyboard out, shake the water out, and stand it on end until it is completely dry (this may take several days). If it does not work after doing this, it may not be dry. Let it stand another week and try it again. If it still does not work, I warned you.

The Disassembly Method - This is the most thorough method, but it should not be done on laptop keyboards or non-standard non-membrane keyboards.

Turn off the computer and unplug the keyboard. Turn the keyboard upside down. You may want to get two books or short boards to place the keyboard on. Position them so that they hold up the keyboard on the edges when it is turned over. This should leave the keys dangling and not touching the books or the floor. This is especially needed when the keyboard's back is off; otherwise the keys will be lifted out of their position by the floor (or whatever surface it is laying on).

Get a screwdriver and remove all of the screws from the back of the keyboard. Lay the keyboard down on the books and carefully remove the back.

Take everything apart and clean thoroughly. It is better to take the keys out one at a time and clean them so that you do not put them back in the wrong place. Wipe each one down with a wet cloth and then with a dry cloth. Any keys that may be hard to put back in, can be cleaned in place without removing them. Wipe around the keys as they sit in place and blow any debris out with your lungs (using compressed air or a vacuum may upset the keys). If you are really brave, you can remove all of the keys at once and give the frame a good wipe down too. Do a once over and make sure that you have cleaned everything. Then reassemble it all.

Don't forget the keyboard's cable. Wrap a wet cloth around it and wipe it down. It may have an accumulation of grime that needs to be scrubbed off. Also if any of the letters on the keys have rubbed off, you can use a fine point permanent marker to draw the letter back on the key.

Keyboards are quite resilient and so it should work when you turn it on again. But if not, another attribute of keyboards is that they are cheap and so it won't cost too much to buy another one. With these pointers in mind and a quick reaction, you just may save your keyboard from total destruction the next time it gets coated with coffee.

iPhone 3G

There's been so much talk about the possibility of the "3G" iPhone, it can be hard to keep up with all the rumors. First of all, "3G" technology promises broadband-like speeds over wireless cellular networks. At present, the iPhone only offers 2.5G (EDGE) speeds, which means your web pages and email download at relatively slower speeds.

Recently Steve Jobs just finished the keynote at the Worldwide Developers Conference(WWDC 08) in San Francisco and the iPhone 3G details are now available! It will be available in July 11th with a starting price of only $199. New features include the well-known 3G wireless technology, GPS mapping, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, the new App Store and for its worldwide release it now support more languages. You can choose from 8GB ($199) and 16GB ($299) capacity and the 8GB will only available in black while the 16GB you can have it in black or white. It measures 115.5mm (H) x 62.1mm (W) x 12.3 (Depth) which is slightly slimmer than the previous iPhone and weighs 133 grams. Other features of the iPhone 3G include 3.5 inch touch-screen, HSDPA, Wifi, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, new Apple App Store, Maps, up to 5 hours talktime on 3G, up to 10 hours on 2G, 300 hours stand-by up to six hours of Web browsing, seven hours of video playback, and 24 hours of audio playback. Interesting! The only thing I want to say is go buy the phone, decide for yourself if it's not the greatest device ever made, and then you can say whatever you want because it will then be your opinion.

Anti-Virus Software

Antivirus software are computer programs that attempt to identify, neutralize or eliminate malicious software. Most modern antivirus software is now designed to combat a wide range of threats, including worms, phishing attacks, rootkits, trojan horses and other malware. Here are some ways to help you figure out which anti-virus software suite will work best for you.

- Determine if your Internet Service Provider offers a free download of security or anti-virus and/or anti-spyware products. You can visit their website and go to the "help" section or call their technical support line and they will walk you through the download and installation process. Software is not "automatically" downloaded. This is a myth. Rather, you must download, put in the license key and then finish installing, updating and tweaking in order for it to function properly and protect your machine. This takes the guesswork and expense out of choosing an anti-virus program.

- Determine which features you need and how you will use your computer. If you use for pleasure and do not have "high speed" Internet access, you do not need the most stealthy anti-virus nor do you need an entire security suite. If you are looking for business features, however, you will want offerings of a full suite such as anti-spyware, spam filter, anti-virus and firewall. There are even some with parental controls built in so you can activate them.

- If one anti-virus program tends to slow down your computer from what it was previously, uninstall and try a new software program.

- If money is a problem or you do not wish to invest anything in software, go to the link in this article and download AVG free edition.

- If you are unsure and do not wish to spend the money for a full version and software license, download a trial anti-virus version which covers you anywhere from 30 to 90 days. If at the end of the trial (or during) you find you wish to switch or do not like the performance, simply uninstall and reinstall a replacement anti-virus program.

The Flip Mino - Small in Size Big in Quality.

Pure Digital released the latest in its line-up of ultra-small, ultra-affordable camcorders today with the Flip Video Mino. The Flip Mino is 40% smaller than its ubiquitous predecessor, the Flip Ultra, measuring a tiny 4” x 2” x 0.6” and weighing about 3.3 ounces. The Mino features the 1.5-inch LCD with a 528 x 132 resolution. The zoom remains a paltry 2x digital, though it doesn’t seem likely that Pure Digital will throw in a load of extra features any time soon. The Flip Mino includes built-in software. When the camcorder is plugged into a computer’s USB drive, the software automatically loads to aids the user in uploading their clips to YouTube, AOL, and now MySpace. There are six buttons handling pause/play, zoom, delete and menu navigation. While they are easy to read and fairly intuitive, they also require a bit of a extra pressure to activate. It also contains 2GB of flash memory, good for recording an hour of video. The Flip Mino is available in black or white and retails for $179.99. Now video is as easy as taking a picture.

My Dockers Mobile Pants

You may be a gadget freak at heart, but there's no need to look like one. I got a pair of the Dockers mobile pants last year. Yeah, they were a little expensive but from a styling point of view, hey, they're Dockers. The pants feel and seem the same as any other standard Dockers Pants. However, instead of a button like most Dockers, there is a hook and eye closure. This type of closure is to prevent wear on the waist from heavy objects in the pockets. The Mobile Pants come with the standard two rear pockets and two front pockets. Of course, the most important features of this Mobile Pant are the hidden pockets. They turn what is essentially a standard pair of Dockers Khakis into the Dockers Mobile Pant. There are two such pockets - one below the right side pocket and one behind the left side pocket. These pockets are specifically designed for a PDA, cell phone, Stowaway Keyboard, or anything else you can think of. The pocket size is roughly 4.5 wide and 5 tall. The pocket zips shut and seamlessly blends in with the seam of the pants. Gadget-enabled clothing may look silly today, but many of these ideas will eventually appear in everyday wear. One piece of advice: make sure you unload your cache before passing through airport metal detectors, or you'll be outed as a geek faster than you can.

Enough about my favorite pants. Hey, do you have a favorite pair of pants, too? Did you know about the Dockers contest? You can create your own stories about your favorite pants and submit the stories as videos to the Dockers TV Commercial Contest. As long as you send your video and you will garner lots of votes, then there's a big chance that you will be picked as the overall winner! You get a chance to win fabulous price! Don't pass up this Dockers contest!! You don't have to pay anything to enter.

Registry Problems?

The Windows registry is a directory which stores settings and options for the operating system for Microsoft Windows 32-bit versions, 64-bit versions, and Windows Mobile. It contains information and settings for all the hardware, operating system software, most non-operating system software, users, preferences of the PC, etc. Whenever a user makes changes to Control Panel settings, file associations, system policies, or most installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in the registry. The registry also provides a window into the operation of the kernel, exposing runtime information such as performance counters and currently active hardware.

When faced with performance hindering registry issues, there isn't a whole lot of options to choose from ..

1- Use computer repair software to automatically scan and repair all errors within your registry.

2- Try to manually fix the registry errors through the "Registry Editor" by yourself. This option will likely end with further damage being caused to the registry.

3- Ignore the problem and wait until the errors get so bad that the computer becomes completely unstable.

As you can see, not a great deal of choices; either let the computer fall apart, "manually" cause the computer to fall apart, or get a registry cleaner and fix the computer automatically. It isn't too hard to choose, is it? Having said that, be sure to get a registry cleaner that actually does the job right and doesn't require a whole lot of user interference. Although you'll probably want to be in charge of the registry scan, it's pretty safe to say that you won't likely want to be in charge of the actual registry repairs; which would result in you having to deal with all of the technical decisions. So once again, be sure to get computer repair software that can easily handle everything for you.

Another option you may be interested in, which usually isn't the first idea to come to mind, is "System Restore". System restore is a unique tool that allows the user to rollback all system settings & registry configurations to a previous date, while at the same time preserving the user's recent files and important documents.

All you have to do is go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. When the window appears, simply choose a restore point and then follow the instructions to restore the previous configurations & settings. This is truly a great way to get rid of harmful registry errors, as all changes to the system, whether they were good or bad, will have been reversed, resulting in increased PC stability. However, you should know that the removal of the registry errors is not guaranteed -- in fact, complete removal of all errors may not even be possible through the system restore tool.

In order for "System Restore" to work and actually fix the PC's registry issues, you have to know when those registry errors occurred so that you can choose the correct restore point. If you choose a restore point in which the errors were already present, nothing will have changed and the errors will still be affecting the registry. Therefore, make sure you have some general idea of when those errors first appeared before you use the "Restore" feature.

If you have no clue on when the errors first originated, you're best bet is to use the best registry cleaner that can get rid of the errors for you. And honestly, it's much easier to do a basic scan and repair with a registry cleaner than it is to do a "System Restore" every time you accumulate registry errors.

Virus? How Do I Clean It Up?

Computer viruses are small software programs that are designed to spread from one computer to another and to interfere with computer operation. A virus might corrupt or delete data on your computer, use your e-mail program to spread itself to other computers, or even erase everything on your hard disk.

As soon as you suspect that your computer has a virus, remove your computer from any networks it might be on, as well as from the Internet, so that you don't inadvertently spread the bug to others. Unplug your network cable if you have to.If you have virus-scanning (anti-virus) software installed, run it. If you don't have anti-virus software, you'll need to obtain some.

Turn off system restore because this is where most of the viruses hide. Anti-virus programs can eradicate the virus in this zone unless system restore is turned off. To find this in Windows XP, right click on "my computer" then click on "properties" then choose "system restore" then tick the "turn off system restore" button. Run the anti-virus software then turn system restore on again.Follow the instructions that came with the anti-virus software. Keep running the virus-scanning software until your computer comes up clean.

Reconnect your computer to the Internet and check with the anti-virus software's publisher to make sure you have the latest updates. If not, download them now. After updating the anti-virus software, run it again until your computer comes up clean.

Sometimes viruses are very persistent meaning that if you kill it, it restarts itself automatically. If this happens, it is important to know where the program is located on your hard-drive. For this, I recommend Process Explorer. It is free, and works on all Windows OSes.

Run Process Explorer, and find out where the file is. If you aren't sure about which process is the malware, right click every one you know isn't bad, and click "Google Search" and that should tell you if it is bad. Once you know which and where the bad file is, reboot and tap F8 while booting. When you see the option, tell your computer to boot to safe-mode. This will run only the basic, necessary-to-run-your-computer programs. Then, go and delete the file that you have found to be malware. Do the registry check mentioned above, and boot normally. If you do not know how to access your registry, it is Start->Run->regedit in Windows XP, and probably older ones, but I can't guarantee that. Beware! The registry is highly sensitive! Don't play with it, because that could ruin your computer!

If you are searching the Internet for anti-spy-ware/virus programs, you should be wary. Some of them call themselves the anti of what they really are. Anything that says immediately that your computer has many problems (100s to 1000s) should not be trusted. Don't be scared into buying it, because that's exactly what the makers want; and if you're like me, you would agree that anyone who has to lie to scare you into buying from them doesn't deserve your money.

Shadow Caddy - The Most Exciting Breakthrough In Golfing Technology

When playing golf, it is quite difficult to carry a bag with the different clubs even with the company of a caddy. This is because the bag weighs a lot and of course, be it 18 or 36 holes, is a long walk. Shadow Caddy is the first robotic golf caddy that follows the player anywhere around the golf course. The caddy has a button right at the front that has two settings: “Follow-Me”, and “Park”. In “Follow Me” mode it does just that - following you unobtrusively around the golf course. When you press the button again it simply stops – in “Park” mode – and waits for you to return. There’s no need for remote controls or joysticks. It works using only a small sensor worn by the player. The Shadow Caddy always moves just a few feet behind the golfer. It can carry the clubs and other materials that the player need. Interesting stuff for golfer out there.

The Chess - Concept Car

The Chess is a cell-car concept where passengers are put in a cell above a platform containing the engine and wheels. It is a concept car by designers Frans Hegge and Thijs van der Zanden. The cell can move over the platform in any direction. If a sensor, placed in the platform, detects a possible crash, the passenger-cell is moved away from the expected impact area. The idea is that driving it will ensure more passenger and driver safer, the cabin resting on top of a platform that can move it around in the unfortunate event of a crash, can keep passengers out of the deformation zone. Nice idea for our safety.

Reduce Your Chances Of Identity Theft

Identity Theft is a worldwide epidemic. This is when we all start getting those emails that want to steal our secret codes and passwords. You know the ones: “Your Account Is About To Be Closed,” “There’s A Block On Your Account,”, “Congratulations – You’ve Won The Lottery (that you never entered).”and my favorite “Could You Help Me Claim My Funds?”. First and foremost, DON’T FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE EMAIL! If you think there might be a problem, access the account in question as you normally do on your PC and not with the link supplied in the phony email.

There are ways to reduce your chances of identity theft:

1. Understand debit card dangers: When it comes to fraud, debit cards carry much greater personal liability than credit cards, depending on how quickly you report the loss of the card. If you fail to report unauthorized use within 60 days of receiving your bank statements, you could lose all the money in the account and be held responsible for the amount of money that has been tapped from your line of credit.

2. Rethink check writing: That little slip of paper has way too much information. Some experts advise against check writing because it gives away your address, bank account number, signature and license number to complete strangers. On top of that, there’s no federal legislation to limit your liability for forged checks (each state has its own set of rules). Experts advise that you look into automating your bill paying.

3. Secure your mail: Your mailbox is a goldmine of information. Between bank statement, bills, and all those pre-approved credit card offers, your mailbox is loaded with personal data which identity thieves can use to easily apply for a credit card in your name. Unless you diligently check your credit report, you may never even know about it. One way to avoid this is to have your mailbox under lock and key, but most of us in Santa Clarita have our mailboxes at the curb in front of our house and the postman frowns on carrying dozens and dozens of keys around. The other solution is to have a rented mailbox, or to foil “dumpster-diving” thieves by buying a shredder and destroy documents before discarding.

4. Go virtual: For shopping online, there are “virtual” card numbers. These are randomly generated credit card numbers that are disposable and that on-line shoppers use once and throw away. It’s linked directly to your real credit card account so purchases show up on your monthly bill. The service is easy to use – and it’s FREE! All you need to do is register with companies offering the virtual card, and they are MBNA, Discover, and Citigroup.

5. Create an emergency identity kit: Would you know how to contact your credit card company in an emergency? Create an emergency kit that contains: your account number, expiration date, issuing company name, and emergency contact number for each card you own. While you’re at it, make copies of your driver’s license, social security card, birth certificate and passport and store them in a locked box or file cabinet, or a safe deposit box. I like the safe deposit box best, because this gives you protection in the event of a catastrophe such as fire, earthquake, etc.

This may all seem like a lot of unnecessary work, but if you’re ever the victim of identity theft – even just once – you’ll realize that it’s well worth the effort.
